How It Works

The actual process, end to end

How Contractor Lane actually works.

Contractor Lane is the Washington contractor's operating manual. Three parts: free guides and tools, paid help that fits your stage, and a file-it-for-me service. Here is the real sequence for each, no steps skipped or invented.

Part 1 · Free guides and tools ($0)

No account, no card. Use as much as you want.

Build your free Washington roadmap

Five questions about your structure, trade and crew. You get the ordered path through UBI, L&I registration, bond, insurance and trade licenses, with the official source on every step.

Read the guide for your situation

Every Washington specialty, renewals, workers' comp, your first employee, pricing, hiring and getting past the $2M wall.

Run the free tools

Break-even, job margin, labor burden, startup cost, invoice aging, the next hire planner and the free business audit. They run in your browser and store nothing.

Part 2 · Pick the paid help that fits

Each one is separate. Buy only what fits where your business is today.

Starting: the Startup Roadmap ($148 one time)

The guided path from business name to first paid job, at your own pace. If it takes six months, it costs the same. Washington and Oregon today.

Running and stuck: Operator ($79 a month)

The operating panel matched to your audit gaps: pricing, cash, collections, hiring, safety, who does the office work at your team size, weekly owner checks, deadline reminders and role training modules for your team. Any state.

Established: the Contractor Vault ($399 a month)

The scripts, playbooks and templates your crew works from instead of calling you. Any state.

These are planning, training, templates and reminders. They do not file anything with the state, give legal or tax advice, or supply leads. Compare every plan.

Part 3 · File it for me ($79 + state fee)

One supported Washington filing, prepared and submitted by a Contractor Lane staff member.

Magic link or status check

You arrive with a personal compliance link from an email we sent, or start cold with a free Washington status check.

Compliance page confirms the filing

We show what's due, whether it's on our supported list, and what the state's own fee is.

Filing-request page: prefill, review, consent

Your business details are prefilled for review. You confirm they're accurate, that you're authorized to act for the business, and that you're authorizing Contractor Lane to attempt the filing, among a few other quick disclosures, before anything is created or charged.

Embedded checkout, one payment

The $79 service fee plus the state's own filing fee when it's known, itemized so you see exactly why the total is what it is before you pay.

Staff prepares and files by hand

A Contractor Lane staff member prepares the filing and submits it where we're able to for that filing type: not unattended software.

You get confirmation

Stored and retrievable, so you have a record without digging through email.

Anyone can use it, with or without another plan. See our refund policy for what happens if you change your mind before or after filing.
