Refund Policy

This page covers refunds for Washington filing services — à la carte filing ($79 + state fee) and, once it opens, Annual Auto-Compliance ($199/yr + state fees). For subscriptions (Deadline Reminders, the Contractor Vault) and one-time purchases (Startup Roadmap, the Roadmap + Reminders bundle), see the relevant section below.
1. Washington filing services ($79 à la carte, and Annual Auto-Compliance)
When you pay for a filing, that payment covers two things: our $79 service fee, and (when known) the state's own filing fee, itemized before you pay. These are refunded differently, because only one of them is ours to refund.

This is deliberate, not a technicality: once a filing reaches the state, the state fee has left Contractor Lane's hands, and the labor covered by the $79 has already happened. Refunding at that point would mean paying twice for the same work.
2. Deadline Reminders ($9.99/mo)
This is a monthly subscription, not a one-time purchase, and nothing is ever "filed" as part of it. Cancel anytime from your settings page and you won't be charged again. We don't refund partial months already billed, since the product — access to your matched deadline calendar and reminder emails — runs for the full period you paid for.
3. Contractor Vault ($399/mo)
Also a monthly membership. Cancel anytime and you won't be charged again. We don't refund partial months already billed, for the same reason as Deadline Reminders: you had access to the library for the period you paid for.
4. Startup Roadmap ($148) and Roadmap + Reminders bundle ($163.50)
These are one-time purchases that unlock digital content immediately. If you haven't started using the roadmap, email us within 14 days of purchase and we'll refund it. Once you've substantially used the roadmap, or for the bundle once the first reminder cycle has started, it's treated as delivered and is not refundable — contact us if something went wrong and we'll look at it on the facts.
5. How to request a refund
Email [email protected] with the product and the email address or business name on the purchase. We aim to respond within two business days. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through Stripe, which can take several business days to appear depending on your bank or card issuer.
