Washington Compliance

Which Washington compliance tier is right for me?

Most people start with à la carte filing: $79 plus the state's own fee, and we do one supported filing for you. After that first filing, Annual Auto-Compliance ($199/yr + state fees, early access) is the "let us handle every year" continuation. If you'd rather file everything yourself and just want a heads-up before deadlines, DIY Reminders is $9.99/mo on its own, or included in Operator.

Does Contractor Lane file everything for me?

No. Across every paid tier, Contractor Lane handles supported filings and tracks the rest. No tier claims to file every deadline your business might have.

Do you actually file this for me, or is it automated?

Where a tier submits a filing, a Contractor Lane staff member prepares it and, where we're able to for that filing type, submits it by hand: this is not unattended software submitting to the state. "Auto-Compliance" describes the plan handling your recurring filings automatically each year so you don't have to remember or buy them one at a time; it does not mean the filing itself is automated. Every filing our staff submits gets a stored, human-reviewed confirmation.

Is Contractor Lane my registered agent?

No. On the tiers where Contractor Lane submits a filing for you, we describe what you get, preparation, submission where we're able to, a stored confirmation, not a legal title for the relationship. Whether a private company can be authorized to submit a given Washington filing on a business's behalf varies by filing type and is still being confirmed.

Is Contractor Lane affiliated with the State of Washington?

No. Contractor Lane is a private company, not a government agency, and not affiliated with or endorsed by Washington State. Every deadline and figure referenced links to the state's own official source.

What if my filing isn't on the supported list?

We'll tell you plainly before you pay anything. Your deadline still shows up as a reminder under DIY Reminders either way, with the official state source linked.

Pricing & Billing

Does the $79 filing fee include the state's own fee?

The $79 is Contractor Lane's service fee. When the state's fee for your filing type is known, your checkout is one payment: the $79 plus the state's own fee, itemized before you pay, passed through at the state's own rate, and never marked up. Example: a Secretary of State annual report is $79 + the state's $70 fee = $149 total, one payment. When a filing's state fee can't be known upfront, you pay $79 at checkout and the state fee is billed at cost after review.

How much does Annual Auto-Compliance cost, and is it open yet?

$199/year plus Washington's own filing fees, billed separately and never marked up. That price is locked for launch, but the plan is not open yet: joining the early-access list charges nothing.

How much do Deadline Reminders cost, and how do I cancel?

$9.99/month on its own for every deadline matched to your business, state and federal, or included in Operator. Cancel anytime: one button on your settings page cancels in Stripe immediately, no email chains, no phone call.

What's your refund policy?

See our full refund policy. Short version: full refund any time before we've actually filed with the state; no refund once the filing has been submitted, because the state fee is non-recoverable and the service fee covers work already performed.

Where can I see every price side by side?

The pricing page lists every Contractor Lane product with what's live today and what's early access.

Deadline Reminders

How does the reminders product work?

Pick your state, answer a few questions about your business, and only the deadlines that apply show up. You get an email before each one, with the official source link.

Do I have to be a contractor to use Deadline Reminders?

No. It works for any small business. Contractor-specific reminders, like a license renewal, only fire if they apply to you.

Does Deadline Reminders file anything for me?

No, and that's deliberate. It reminds you ahead of each deadline with the official source link. You (or your bookkeeper) file. It replaces the sticky note, not the CPA. If you'd rather have Contractor Lane prepare and submit a Washington filing for you, see à la carte filing and Annual Auto-Compliance.

What if my filing frequency changes?

Change it in settings and the calendar rebuilds instantly. Same for hiring your first employee: flip one toggle and the entire employer layer turns on.
