Who runs it
Contractor Lane is a trade name of Andy's Plumbing & Drain LLC, a Washington limited liability company. It is built and maintained by a working Washington home-service operator, not a large company or a content farm. Our hands-on operating experience comes from Washington. For other states, we do not pretend to have local experience we do not have: we build from the responsible state agencies and statutes, link the source, and label the page according to its verification status.
What Contractor Lane is
It is three things for one audience: a new contractor trying to understand what applies in their state and what to do first.
- A free state-by-state library of sourced requirements and practical guides on business setup, licensing, bonds, insurance, pricing, getting found, and landing the first job.
- A personalized roadmap in states where the detailed path has been built and verified. Other state pages remain sourced requirement guides until their roadmap is ready.
- A paid Startup Roadmap and Deadline Reminders service for supported states, with the sequence, source links, and filing dates organized in one place.
How we keep the information accurate
When we publish a fee, bond amount, insurance minimum, credential, or deadline, we trace it to the responsible state or federal agency and retain the source link. We do not treat another marketing website as regulatory authority. State readiness labels distinguish a verified roadmap from a requirements-reference page that is still being built. Rules and fees change, so we invite corrections and you are always responsible for confirming current requirements with the agency before relying on them. How we make money
We are direct about this because trust is the whole product. Contractor Lane earns from the paid Startup Roadmap, the Roadmap and Reminders bundle, and the monthly Deadline Reminders service. Some pages also point you to third-party vendors a new contractor needs, such as formation services, insurance, bonding, banking, and software. Where we have an affiliate relationship with a vendor, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you, and we disclose it. We do not sell your personal information. What we are not
Contractor Lane is not a law firm, CPA, insurance agency, or licensing agency, and nothing here is legal, tax, or financial advice. It is self-help information with official source links so you can verify and file with the responsible agency yourself.
